ABSTRACT

Objective To observe Shenci capsule's effect on immunologic function and hematological tox-icity of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Methods 60 cases of patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer were chosen and divided into the therapy group and the control group randomly with 30 cases in each group respectively. While patients in the control group were administered simple GP chemotherapy regime, patients in the therapy group were administered Shenci capsule treatment orally in addition to the therapy in the control group.Comparisons were made of the variations in the subgroup of T lymphocyte(including the absolute val-ue of CD3+cell,the absolute value of CD4+cell,the absolute value of CD8+cell and CD4+/CD8+ratio)of hematology before and after chemotherapy between the two groups of patients. Results No significant discrepancy was found in the comparison of the absolute value of CD3+cell,the absolute value of CD4+cell,the absolute value of CD8+cell and CD4+/CD8+ratio before the chemotherapy between the two groups(P > 0.05)and the absolute value of CD3+cell,and the absolute value of CD4+cell of both groups decreased significantly after the chemotherapy(P<0.05), especially in the control group(P < 0.05). The hematological toxicity of the therapy group was lower than that in the control group(P < 0.05)after the chemotherapy. Conclusion Shenci capsule was capable of enhancing the body immunity in advanced non-small cell lung cancer and alleviating hematological toxicity.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To explore the changes of the serum immune cytokines in medical radiation workers exposure to low dose ionizing radiation. METHODS: Totally 244 medical professionals working with radiation(61 diagnosis radiology,51 nuclear medicine,74 radio therapeutics and 58 interventional radiology) from 7 hospitals of Guangdong Province were selected as study subjects by using the typical sampling method; 51 administration workers who did not expose to radiation were selected as control group. The radiation dose of these individuals was monitored by thermoluminescent measurement instrument for one year. Venous blood was collected and the levels of interferon γ(IFN-γ),interleukin 10(IL-10),transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1) in serum were examined by enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay. RESULTS: The maximum annual average dose of radiation per person of the medical radiation workers was 0. 41 mSv/a. It was smaller than the occupational exposure limit(20. 00 mSv/a). The annual average dose of radiation per person in the group of nuclear medicine was significantly higher than those of diagnosis radiology, radio therapeutics and interventional radiology(P <0. 01). Among the male staffs, the expression of IL-10 in the diagnosis radiology group, radio therapeutics group and interventional radiology group was lower than that in the control group(P < 0. 05); the expression of IL-10 in radio therapeutics group was lower than those in nuclear medicine group and interventional radiology group(P < 0. 05); the ratio of IFN-γ/IL-10 in radio therapeutics group was higher than those in diagnosis radiology group, nuclear medicine group, interventional radiology group and control group(P < 0. 05). These individuals were divided into 3 different dose group(0. 03-,0. 06-and > 0. 15 m Sv/a) based on their average radiation dose. The expression of IL-10 in male staffs of these3 dose groups was lower than that of the male control group(P < 0. 05). CONCLUSION: Long-term low dose ionizing radiation may restrain the expression level of IL-10 in the male staffs.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To discuss the effect of Glycyrrhiza uralensis (G. uralensis) Fisch polysaccharide on growth performance and immunologic function in mice in Ural City, Xinjiang and to provide important data supporting the application of Glycyrrhiza polysaccharide.@*METHODS@#A total of 100 Kunming mice aged 3 weeks old were randomly divided into 5 groups with 20 mice in each group (10 were females and 10 were males). About 0.5 mL normal saline was given to the mice of control group every day and 0.5 mL G. uralensis Fisch polysaccharide was given to the mice of other groups at the concentration of 1, 20, 50 and 100 mg/mL, respectively. The growth performance (average body weight, average daily feed intake and feed efficiency), immune organ indexes (spleen index and thymus index) and immunologic function (serum IL-2, CD4/CD8 and the activity of NK cells) of mice in each group were detected continuously.@*RESULTS@#The average body weight, feed efficiency, serum IL-2, CD4/CD8 and the activity of NK cells of mice were increased with the increase of administrated time after administrating G. uralensis Fisch polysaccharide and were reached up the largest level on Day 28. At the same time, each index was proportional to the given dose and was significantly higher than those of control group and reached up the largest level at the administrated dose of 100 mg/mL. After administrating G. uralensis Fisch polysaccharide, the spleen index and thymus index of mice were increased with the increase of administrated dose and the spleen index and thymus index of mice administrated with the dose of 100 mg/mL were maximum which was more than 1.51 times and 1.43 times of that in control group, respectively and the comparative differences showed statistical significance (P  0.05).@*CONCLUSIONS@#G. uralensis Fisch polysaccharide can significantly improve the growth performance and immunologic function of mice and laid a research basis for the clinical application of G. uralensis Fisch polysaccharide.
